Description
What sets almond cookies apart is their distinct almond flavor, whether achieved through almond flour, extract, or chopped almonds. - Grease four baking sheets. Cream the fats with the sugar until light and fluffy and beat in the egg. Sift together the flour, spices and baking powder and stir into the creamed mixture with the nuts. Refrigerate the mixture for 2 hours or until it is easy to handle
- With your hands, shape the mixture into balls about 2.5 cm in diameter. Place them about 5 cm apart on the baking sheets and flatten eveny, using the bottom of a glass covered with a damp cloth.
- Mix the egg yolk with water and brush over the tops of the cookies to glaze them. Decorate each one with an almond half.
- Bake at 190C (375F) mark 5 for 10 minutes or until golden. Remove from the baking sheets immediately and cool on a wire rack.
